An international student education agent from Brazil, Aureo Paiva-Neto, visited Macleans College yesterday to see first-hand a top academic school in action.

Mr Paiva-Neto said there was a growing market in Brazil for students to study in New Zealand because of the academic standard, the environment and the friendly people.

He added that the academic year was the same in Brazil which made it easier for students to end one academic year and begin another.

Mr Paiva-Neto is from the franchise company called CI and has been in New Zealand for two weeks.

“It is important we send the right student to the right school,” he said after touring the Macleans campus.

Macleans College has the largest in-take of international students compared with any other school in New Zealand.

The Cambridge International Examinations and the National Certificate of Educational Achievement examinations are offered. In the recently announced examination results, ten students gained Top-in-the-World and 12 gained Top-in-New Zealand in CIE while 98 scholarships were achieved in NCEA. This included 11 outstanding scholarships and one highly sought-after Premier Scholarship.
